Lime is a natural product resulting from the calcination of limestone or calcium carbonate (CaCO3). This process generates live lime or calcium oxide (CaO), and after water addition (H2O), becomes hydrated lime or calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2). The result of this process, called lime cycle, is lime of high purity with whiteness greater than 98%. When applied to the substrate, absorbs CO2 during setting and again become calcium carbonate (CaCO3), thus closing the cycle, without leaving any carbon footprint.
The final lime obtained can be used in several industrial areas: construction, restoration/renovation, decoration, agriculture, landfills, water treatment, food, chemical, pharmaceutical and many others. The artisanal system to produce lime for our paints and coatings dates back from the mid-nineteenth century, obtained in wood- burning ovens such as those used by the Romans and Arabs. This system has been inherited from generation to generation..
